Hey Look I Just Dropped A Blog!

photo mattbraunger:

So, I know it’s not GPOYW or anything, but here’s the cover for my new (and first ever) album coming out July 14th. I recorded it at the Hollywood Improv and I’m really proud of how it came out. There, I said it.
Steve Agee took the cover photo and Jesse Lee Stout designed it (the logo, etc). Basically, when I decided on calling it “Soak Up the Night” (named after a bit I do) I realized it sounded like the title of a cheesy 80s rock album. So that’s the theme we went with. So far it makes me laugh every time I look at it, especially because I would never take myself as seriously as I look like I am. Also, a badass chrome logo that says something so ridiculous can’t be wrong.
It’s available for pre-order here: http://go.thesyn.com/mattbraunger/

Braunger is by far one of the best standups LA has to offer. Give him your money.

photo My buddy and I just got this concerning the Jackson video I posted yesterday:
Congratulations - You are about to become a TV Star! A video submitted by you has been selected to appear on Television, using the i2TV (Internet-to-TV) Beta service. Don’t forget to tell all your friends - it’s time to watch your video on i2TV! Here are the names of…..
blah blah bunch of towns I have never heard of. Well I guess I’m a TV Star now. So I ask all of you to never look at me in the eyes again. Guess I have to trade in my ‘99 Honda CRV for a Beemer too. Also, I’ll be changing my moniker from Comedy’s Ron Babcock to TV Star Ron Babcock. Nice knowing you guys, I guess I’ll walk around till I run into Johnny Depp and just go from there.

So I've been on this classic movies kick...

and I watched All Quiet on the Western Front last night. I hated it, and I love watching old movies. I actually love watching old war movies and I still didn’t like it. I know it won an Oscar for Best Picture in 1930 and that it’s listed on all the Top 100 Best-Films-of-All-Time-lists, but the dialogue was just so campy and over-the-top and bad. I’ve never been to war, but I’m pretty sure no solider has ever said, “Gee fellas, this war has really changed us!”

I really liked the movie when no one was talking. The action sequences were chilling, even though they were simplistic by today’s standards. But then they would cut to a scene that had the same acting tone as the Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

(I’m now preparing myself for the inevitable film nerd fight the next time I run into one of you guys at a party.)

link Poolboy Magazine

My friend Jacki is starting a print porno mag, who in her words “will feature dudes that girls actually want to see naked.” She said she’d interview me for it, but only if I do full frontal. I said I would clean a pool naked, but would want some conveniently placed pool equipment to cover my Yohan (yep, that’s its name).

This is one of those ideas you hear about and then a few months later you see a website an go, “Oh shit, you’re actually doing it?!”

photo PICTURES FROM MY TRIP AROUND THE WORLD: #56
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Nice view of Table Top mountain. Clouds would roll over it throughout the day like a slow motion waterfall. My only regret is that I got too drunk the night before I was supposed to hike it and didn’t go. But I like leaving places with a few regrets, it gives you a reason to go back.

SONGS I LISTEN TO OVER AND OVER #24

“Please Please Please Let me Get What I Want” by The Smiths.

“I haven’t had a dream in a long time, see the life I had can make a good time go bad.
So for once in my life, let me get what I want. Lord knows it would be the first time.”

Jesus this is a sad song. I thought I was sad when I lose the little cord thingie that hooks my ipod up to my car stereo, but this guy has been through some serious bad times. What’s worse is the song runs 1:53, so he was so sad that he didn’t have the energy to write another verse. I listen to this and imagine some dood in torn jeans sitting on a milk crate watching a busted up black and white TV wishing he did everything in his life differently.

Fun Fact: The Dream Academy did an instrumental version of this song which was used Ferris Bueller’s Day Off when Cameron started at the Seurat painting in the art museum. Yeah, it just got a bit sadder, didn’t it?

I’m still sad about that cord thingie.
